76/77 Squadron originally formed in early 1945
In March 1945, my father than a Captain (Lt Col RD Ferguson RE Retd) was posted to Bath in Somerset as OC of the Plant Troop of 76 Squadron which was based with 77 Squadron in Bath and responsible for clearing the beaches of mines and anti tank obstacles with armoured bulldozers and flail tanks from Newport & Cardiff around the entire South Coast to London and the southern reaches of the River Thames Estuary..
