My time at Waterbeach

We took over Waterbeach from the RAF April 1st 1966 I Think,I remember I was the first POL storeman.For a month I had to issue fuel RAF style,5 copies of of 5003 I Think it was, AFG825 was a lo easier.I was responsible for indenting for all types of fuel and oils including heating oil for the camp.i did a stint as an RP. In the guardroom we had a tannoy system to get everyone out of bed at 6am,a fire alarm system with alarm points around the camp and married quarters.Ammunition bunkers were on the other side of airfield had to be checked every hour.1968 to 1969 we went to RAF ElAdem in LIbya where we extended the runway at both ends.
